How often does Server Eyeball check my site?

Server Eyeball checks your site every 15 minutes. If a response from your site is not received you will be immediately notified and Server Eyeball will begin checking your site every 5 minutes. Once your site starts to respond site monitoring will be resumed at 15 minute intervals.

Exactly how many sites can I monitor?

You can monitor up to five sites at no extra charge. That is, up to five check points are included in the price. A check point is a service at a particular internet address which you want to monitor, such as your website at you.com. For example you could monitor a single service (such as web page delivery) at five different sites, or you could monitor five different services (such as web page delivery, POP, SMTP, FTP and DNS) at a single site. The following services can be monitored: Web/HTTP (port 80), SMTP (port 25), DNS (port 53), POP (port 110), SSH (port 22) and FTP (port 21). If you want to monitor more than 5 check points then you can do so for a small additional fee of $2.50 per check point.

Can I monitor specific ports?

Certainly. Server Eyeball is a highly configurable tool. You can set it to check your site by domain name (e.g. http://www.YourSite.com or by IP address (e.g. 123.123.123.123) and also specify which port or service to check. Most users will wish to set Server Eyeball to check the HTTP port (for web pages) however you can alternatively choose to monitor FTP, SMTP, POP, SSH, or DNS.

Please note that to check more than five ports simultaneously you will need to add additional check points to your account. Please see our prices page for details.

Can I switch off alerts to my cell phone?

Yes! No need to have your cell phone going off at 2 in the morning! All Server Eyeball accounts come with an easy-to-use Control Panel which enables you to specify notification intervals and time frames. For example, you may like to receive a warning via SMS only if your site is down for 30 minutes and then only between the hours of 9-5pm. Alternatively you may wish to be notified immediately 24 hours a day. It's your choice.

Remember that regardless of your SMS settings you will always be issued notifications via email.

Do I have to use my own domain name for my email addresses?

No, you don't. If you do not wish to use or purchase your own domain name then we will provide you with Server Eyeball addresses such as bob@bobswidgets.servereyeball.com. Alternatively you can purchase your own .com/.net domain name via our Registration Services for only $19 per year.

Do I get statistics?

Yes. Your Server Eyeball Control Panel comes with detailed statistics updated in realtime. This lets you keep track of how often and for how long your site has been down.

How do I find out more about the email features which come with my Server Eyeball account?

A full list of Server Eyeball's features is provided on our Details page. The following links may also be helpful to you:

Don't forget that your Server Eyeball account includes access to Kanga WebMail, as well as unlimited aliases, autoresponders and forwarding.

Can I purchase extra SMS credits?

Yes. Each SMS sent to your phone will cost you one SMS credit. We allocate free SMS credits to each Server Eyeball account, so you can trial the service without paying a cent. If you decide this service is useful then you can purchase more SMS credits via your Control Panel. Our SMS prices are extremely competitive, and are available on our prices page.

Can I get Server Eyeball without the email accounts/services?

Having a POP user account on our systems is essential for you to have access to both our SMS notification services, and our Control Panel. For this reason the standalone version of Server Eyeball comes with 5 POP email accounts. If Server Eyeball is installed as an optional add-on to one of our Web Hosting or Email Only plans then the 5 POP accounts are not included, as you would already have POP accounts and email services as part of your existing hosting package. In either case, the monthly fee ($9.95 for the standalone version and $7.50 for the add-on version) will always apply, regardless of whether your POP accounts are used by you or not.
